After a botched gender reassignment surgery leaves her with a scar she calls her "angry inch," Hedwig embarks on a journey to find love and her own identity. She forms a band and tours across America, often performing in rundown venues, while recounting her life story, including her failed relationships and her quest to reclaim her songs from a former lover who has stolen them. Through powerful music and raw emotion, the film explores themes of identity, love, and self-acceptance, all while celebrating the resilience of the human spirit.
