NEVADA THEATRE 7/6: The Onyx Downtown at the Nevada Theatre is proud to present our third annual Studio Ghibli in July series, a celebration of the beloved Japanese animation studio’s greatest films for its 40th anniversary! Perfect for audiences of all ages, PONYO centers on the friendship between five-year-old Sosuke and a magical goldfish named Ponyo. After a chance encounter between the pair, Ponyo yearns to become a human so she can be with Sosuke. But such a wish might not be so simple, especially for the young daughter of a sorcerer father and a sea-goddess mother. As to be expected with Studio Ghibli, the film is awash in pure unbridled imagination and visual wonder — but it is the tender love, humor, and devotion exhibited by Ponyo and Sosuke that form the emotional heart of the film. *All Ghibli films are shown in their English-dubbed versions.
